As a popular adage says, a mother's love is unconditional. If this is the case for mother's? What about a child's love for his/her mother?
A boy in China named Chen Xiaotian died after his 2-year battle with brain cancer. At the tender age of five (5), he was already diagnosed with the said illness. His dying wish was to save his motherwho was also ill with uremia during that time.
According to attending physicians of Chen's mother, only a kidney transplant would save her. When Chen's condition seemed beyond salvation, his grandmother conceived the idea of donating his kidneys to save his mother. Chen's mother initially refused and clanged to the hope that Chen would recover soon after. However, a defiant Chen told his mother to "let him go" and asked her to accept his kidney so as to save her from her illness.
Hours after Chen's death, his kidney was transplanted into his mother and the procedure was deemed a success. Chen's other kidney was then given to another patient in need. Aside from his kidneys, Chen's liver were likewise donated.
Chen is a testament to the kind of love that a child can offer to a parent. He is a hero worth emulating and may his example shine through the rest of the world.
