Have you ever seen an Albino? Albino refers to the people with Albinism, it is a condition characterized by a deficit in the production of melanin by the partial or complete absence of pigment in skin, hair and eye resulting in a white skin complexion.
Most Albinos are trying their best to live a normal life, even though sunlight is a big threat in their skin. But the sad truth is that, people with Albinism in Africa are indeed in danger. Albinos are beingcaptured and slaughtered in Africa not to be donated, but to be sold for witchcraft.
Body parts of Albinos are being used in witchcraft in some of their rituals because of the belief that Albinos possesses great powers in their bodies.
However, this market brings danger in the lives of these Albinos. Recently, a girl was kidnapped by her own uncle who wanted to earn a big amount of money that he'll get after selling the Albino. Luckily, this girl was saved by the policemen.
But not everyone is as lucky as her. Meet Kulwa, a survivor of a gruesome attack way back when she's 15. She's just 15 years old when five men broke into their house and cut off her limb.
"I can't begin to describe the pain." Kuwla said.
She's now safe and living in a safe house run by the organization 'Under the Same Sun'.
"Under the Same Sun took me to vocational school where I learned tailoring. I also learned how to knit sweaters. I learned all of this with one arm." Kuwla added.
It's truly painful to see other people killing Albinos just to get profit from their body parts, it's quite saddens me to know that people are willing to take innocent lives just to earn money.
